LA TRAVERSEE / book
La Traversée is a personal creation, partly inspired by Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness“. From the book, I retained only the central motif: the drift of a boat captain traveling upriver through an increasingly wild and ominous jungle. As his journey unfolds, the captain is confronted with various manifestations of darkness that he must struggle against.
In the same way as the captain, I allowed myself to drift along with the drawings, without knowing exactly where they would lead me or what final form the story would take.
In a second phase, I shaped and reorganized these drawings, clarifying the narrative dimension of the whole. It is a solitary journey focused on the path itself rather than its destination, a reverie that sometimes strays to the edge of reality, following a line of shadow drawn in black ink.
